At the final of the Easyfood Magazine "Best Country Market" competition which was held at the Iverk Agricultural Show in Piltown, Co. Kilkenny on Thursday last, Dunfanaghy Country Market was awarded the Perpetual Trophy for Best Overall Market in Ireland. The Competition which has been run by Easyfood Magazine for the last three years was judged on a display of market produce which included two items from each of four categories: Ready Meals, Special Diets, Celebrations and Traditional Irish Food. The Competition was judged by Gina Miltadou, publisher of the magazine and Catherine Leydon, professional food writer from TV3.

Dunfanaghy who, having won the North West heat earlier in the year, came out on top. The judges commented on the quality and range of produce and the overall display and presented the Perpetual Trophy to Elizabeth Bowyer and Teresa McConnell who were delighted with the win. Mr Trevor Sargent, T.D. Minister of State at the Dept. of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food was on hand to congratulate the Dunfanaghy represtatives. The winning entry will be featured in the November issue of Esyfood Magazine which is available in most local shops.
